Filling the Ngokwe

Harvest 2017 is almost done – and people in our village are happy.  It was a good, long wet season with enough rain to harvest beans in February and plant again for a second crop.  The maize is now dry and being harvested with the second crop of beans still green in the fields. Theres plenty of maize coming off the farms too.  Our friends featured in the video are very happy with how much they have.  They are filling their storehouse (Ngokwe) and will probably have excess.

People are happy because they know they will have enough food to last them until next harvest season.

Does the whole village collect the maize together into one storage or do individual farmers each have their own? Neil Turner (neil.turner@iinet.net.au)
